As you may have read above, I am interested in the distribution of mass in the universe, in particular the dark matter (which is ~90% of the mass). Most of the data I use in these studies will come from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, or SDSS Our group was in the New York Times in 2000. The subject was a paper of ours on the study of gravitational lensing due to galaxies. Check out the article. That paper was accepted to the Astronomical Journal. Go here for a copy of the paper. Note: We DO NOT use x-ray light for our studies, despite the implications of the first paragraph of this article. We use light in the visible and near infrared, 4000-8500 angstroms. The responses for SDSS filters are here. We used data from the middle three bandpasses for our lensing studies.
